This is a very nice
pre World War Gold Sparkle Binding style 6 original high profile flathead tone
ring with the large tube two piece flange. I built the reproduction neck for the owner
around 35 years ago.
All metal parts
appear original to the banjo. The gold plating is worn. The armrest may have
been a replacement in the distant past but appears to be pre World War Two
Gibson. The rim is drilled with a hole for the armrest mute that was available
from the factory on the style 6 but the rim shows no wear that indicates an
armrest mute was ever installed.
The neck rod
is adjustable one way. Adjustment is
accessed at the heel of the neck. The truss rod cover in the peghead is
decorative to match the original appearance. This is the rod we used in all our
necks up to around 10 - 12 years ago. It works as it should. The neck relief is
proper.
The finish
and frets are in very good condition. The banjo looks untouched from when this
project was delivered to my customer 30 years ago.
The originial tuning pegs are on the reproduction neck.
The original
neck was not included when this banjo was purchased by my customer for the
conversion to 5 string.
The banjo
comes with a was hard shell case in good condition.
